Clearly believing he finally is gaining traction with his latest line of attack in the governor’s race—that is, comparing Bill Haslam to Bobby Ewing of the long-running Dallas soap opera—Zach Wamp has announced he will annihilate his foe in the minds of voters by unveiling new analogies involving ancient TV programs.

“Bill Haslam didn’t run Pilot Oil. Goodness gracious. He’s a sissy wannabe. By comparing my opponent to old TV show characters, I will demonstrate this fact to the people of Tennessee,” Wamp said, adding that he will do so every day until the Republican primary on Aug. 5.

Wamp launched his new campaign initiative by likening the Knoxville mayor to Rin Tin Tin, the world’s most famous German shepherd dog.

“Rin Tin Tin was a great dog,” Wamp told reporters. “Courageous, frankly. But you wouldn’t put him in charge of the Cavalry post, would you? No. He’s a dog. Bill Haslam is Rin Tin Tin, honest to goodness. He’s a great dog. Wags his tail. Bites the bad guys. But he’s not a leader.”

Next, Wamp said he will compare Haslam to Opie Taylor.
