Ex-Hooters Waitress Now Running for State House Defends Racy Photos

Posted by Jeff Woods on Tue, Jun 22, 2010 at 3:15 PM

"I was not pantless. I was not pantieless."

That from Pith's new favorite state House candidate—Julia Hurley—immediately ranks as one of the world's best political quotations. It's right up there with Truman's "The buck stops here," Lincoln's "Fourscore and seven years ago," Nixon's "I am not a crook," and Dubyah's "I think we agree. The past is over." Now if she can just beat Dennis Ferguson in November.

Julia Hurley's got my vote by cracky. Nobody knows the ways of the world quite like a working girl. Maybe she persevered at Hooters with her virtue intact, or not. And I don't really give a crap. Nobody knows the ways of the real world like a working girl, so get after it sweetie. I'm in your corner.

Right on, Sam. Pith hereby endorses Julia. She has nothing to be ashamed about. As she says, her modeling career helped her get where she is today--running for the state House from Rockwood.

She has more to recommend her than any Republican I've seen in I don't know when.

Not that I'm supporting her or anything but didn't Scott Brown of Massachusetts pose nude in Cosmo years ago? Just really hate the double standard here. A man can show off his bod and it's no big deal but when a woman does it suddenly she's not appropriate for public office? Cut the crap, people.

Scott Brown caught a lot of flak for those pictures. He was mocked viciously.

Did she really try to claim that questions about publicly distributed photos are "private . . . very private questions"? That doesn't make sense. She knew the photos were for public distribution when she took them.

So she posed for some "racy pictures" and she's a self-described social conservative. All that really means is that if she doesn't support the homosexual fetish turned lifestyle turned civil rights crusade, she is a hypocrite (since she posed for "racy" pictures).

Welcome to the small-minded world of Tennessee Republican politics, Julia Hurley...the question is why did Hurley ask the modeling web site to remove photo of her work at a legitimate modeling shoot?

I don't get it, but I am not either a Republican or a resident within the Hurley House District...these Hurley pictures shown during the news cast are not in any way "racy"(nor I have I ever been inside a Hooters restaurant as a customer or guest).

Hurley should be counting her lucky stars that the Tennessee Republican Party did not learn of her past that may (or may have not) included working as a lifeguard at a municipal swimming pool.

An apology or explanation by Hurley is irrlevant at this point. The only thing she should and can do in this matter is announce that she is not a hypocrite and therefore supports the homosexual fetish.
