Wampism of the Day: God Blessed Chattanooga for Abortion Clinic Ban

In this week's Scene, we catalog yet more of the sayings of Zach Wamp, that spittle-flecked guy running for governor who the Democrats are hoping to face in the fall election. It turns out Wamp believes God divvies up jobs based on whether you've been naughty or nice. Here he is channeling his inner Pat Robertson at this summer's Tea Party convention in Gatlinburg:

"Let me tell you one of the reasons why Chattanooga is a very blessed city today, why we have so much new economic development and why we're really an anointed city. There are no abortion clinics in Chattanooga. We made a decision. We made a decision a long time ago that we were going to work as a community to not allow abortion clinics in our city, and I got to tell you we're trying to be after God's own heart. I mean it's hard to say that. Lincoln said, we don't claim to have God on our side but we strive to be on his. And that's the deal here. People who seek righteousness and the right thing are blessed and anointed. Our city is blessed. Our state will be blessed as we remove this scourge and plague of killing innocent children in the womb."

Somehow... I doubt (or at least fervently hope) that neither this cracker/fanatic nor the idiot of a Lieutenant Governor have any chance of winning.

this aroused my curiosity, so according to Google there are at least two abortion clinics in Chattanooga....Choices Women's Resource Center & Aaa Women's Center. I don't have a problem with comments that Chattanooga is blessed, it has been blessed economically over the past few years, but I do have a problem with not stating the facts.

Maybe it's the receding hairline but the cavity for his brain seems oddly shaped.

this guy is just The Worst. thankfully (and i truly hate saying that) that dork Haslam is beating McWherter in the Ramussen poll by a larger margin than both this God-bothering theocrat jackass and fancy-boots birther Ramsey.

Jeebus what a jackass. Chattanooga's revival is due to environmental cleanup and good urban planning. You know, things that conservatives just love to embrace.

How does Zachery Wamp explain his Bronze Age theory - or rather fairy tale - of "divine economic anointment" when 94% of all Tennessee counties are sans abortion providers (and by extension, all these other Tennessee counties should be enjoying the same vibrant local economy as reportedly does Hamilton County...)

Washington Wamp's influence of the cult-like rooming house on C Street in D.C. is showing... his thinking is God's will. Scary stuff no matter what you think about the issue of abortion. By the way, Chatanooga does have facilities that perform abortions.

I believe that abortion is a vital service, otherwise we would be overrun by liberals. Zach, reconsider the ban! You have to think long-term strategy! If the liberals keep killing their children, it can only help our cause! Call it the Chattanooga Quik-n-Easy Death Clinic!

I agree with Wamp. God blesses those who follow His ways and pursue His heart. Try it and see.
