Day Three: J.R. Lind — The 'Jeopardy!' Domination Continues ... Can It Last?

I pity the fool that faces J.R. Lind! I PITY HIM!
  • "I pity the fool that faces J.R. Lind! I PITY HIM!"
"His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy. There's vomit on his sweater already, bow tie's spaghetti. He's nervous, but on the surface he looks calm and ready / To drop bombs about Benjamin Disraeli, but he keeps on forgetting / What he told Trebek betting ... "

Look, if you had one shot, or one opportunity to seize everything you ever wanted in one moment — would you capture it, or just let it slip? The words of Eminem haunt us as Middle Tennessee's favorite son J.R. Lind goes for all the marbles tonight in his third night as a Jeopardy! contestant. Last night, the answer "The Perfect Storm" sent some poor sucka down to Davy Jones' Locker. But J.R. stayed afloat.

Tonight the pugnacious pundit has no less than $52,801 in winnings under his belt, roughly one-quarter his yearly Post Politics earnings. Will he be able to afford that fancy dickie bow with the three stars of the Tennessee flag? Or will he thumb a ride back to Nashville and the bosom of his adoring SouthComm family?

Tune in 6 p.m. this evening as the tension reaches a fever pitch on Comcast Channel 14 (or Channel 30, for those with dishpan hands). No pressure, J.R. — except to say the hopes of an entire city are riding on you.

UPDATE: Sorry about removing the link to J.R.'s "one totally hot fan," but we were cautioned that PC users clicking on it were getting patched through to some peculiar .exe files. All you Mac users, you can find the link in yesterday's comments on the Pith story linked above. Thank ETW for his vigilance.
