Quiz Kid: Will J.R. Lind Make Headlines Tonight on 'Jeopardy!'?

Posted by Jim Ridley on Fri, Jun 4, 2010 at 4:46 PM

Ill take The Rapists for $200!
  • "I'll take 'The Rapists' for $200!"
A: What is "pride"?
Q: This emotion is felt by all his co-workers as Post Politics' J.R. Lind goes on Jeopardy! tonight at 6 p.m. on Channel 14. Although he describes the whole experience in next week's Scene — yes, including face time with The Presence, a.k.a. host Alex Trebek — the dapper newshound with the trademark dickie bow has carefully guarded how well he fared as a contestant. But if I were a betting man and I had $15,400 in winnings, I'd bet $15,398 on J.R.

Word has it folks will be piling into a Hillsboro Village watering hole around 5 p.m. this afternoon to cheer J.R. on. Just keep your eyes peeled for a bunch of people who look like they could answer questions about Susan Sontag, the periodic table and 19th century British prime ministers, and follow the line to the bar.

I've gotta say, a Texas Chainsaw Massacre directed by the Coen brothers has to be one of film history's great what-ifs.

Impressive performance, great command of minutiae and best of all, smart strategy. A half-hour of riveting TV drama -- congrats JR.

Gotta play poker with this guy, though. Your smirk before the betting reveal was priceless.

J R,
Are you related to Betty(miller) and James Lind from hendersonville, tn? ,my mom saw you on jeopardy last night and called me to see if I could find out if you were related to them. I believe betty passed away a few years ago, but, we haven't heard from jim since 2005.
You are brilliant, by the way!
thanks, ruthann

Mr. Pink, I really hope someone slips a tape of this episode to the Coen Brothers, just on the off-chance that it will inspire them to remake "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre."
