Wamp Can't Pass Ramsey's 'Smell Test'

At his press conference today, Ron Ramsey piled on Zach Wamp over his cozy relationship with the AkinsCrisp PR firm. As The City Paper reported this week, Wamp created the Tennessee Valley Corridor, an economic development agency that has funneled money to AkinsCrisp, which has hired Wamp's son and works for Wamp's campaign. Said Ramsey:

"I've always thought it didn't pass the smell test in the fact that there was an awful lot of money coming out of Washington, D.C., that ended up getting to AkinsCrisp. We've known that for years. What work product have they actually produced? I've always wondered that. Is it just a dog-and-pony show that makes people feel good or does it actually do something? That's always been a question of mine, so I think it's interesting that that's been brought up now."

Update: The Wamp campaign responds. “Ramsey’s just doing what he does best — taking cheap political shots in a lame attempt to boost his fading campaign when he really ought to be worrying about the state budget.”
