Wamp Attack of the Week! Haslam in Cahoots with Casino Gamblers!

Zach Wamp vowed today never to allow casino gambling in Tennessee. We guess he'll meet casino gamblers at the state line with that gun he keeps next to his head at night. Wamp is like a coiled snake—on alert for danger at all times.

Are casino gamblers trying to set up operations in Tennessee? Well, no. But Bill Haslam's Pilot truck stops include slot machines in Nevada, and the Metro Pulse wrote a little story about it last week, so you know what that means: It's time for another Wamp Attack! In a press release, Wamp says:

“The international gaming interests that Mayor Haslam has partnered with may think they can do business here in Tennessee, but they are dead wrong. Their gambling dollars are not welcome here, and casino gambling will not come into our state as long as I am governor. Period.”

Pith didn't think much of last week's Wamp Attack, in which Haslam was accused of unethical conduct for making a personal investment in a downtown Knoxville redevelopment project. But we like this one better. Even though it's complete nonsense, it'll succeed in riling up the Christian Right, which worries about all kinds of absolutely ridiculous things that'll never happen.
