Tea Party Aftermath: Do Haslam, Wamp and Ramsey Condone Hate Mongering?

Bill Haslam, Zach Wamp and Ron Ramsey went to the Tennessee tea party convention this weekend the day after the vile conspiracy theorist Pamela Geller spoke. Tea party organizers defiantly refused to drop Geller from their agenda despite the objections of the Council on American-Islamic Relations. To cheers from the tea partiers, Geller predictably went on a schizoid rant, spewing her hatred of Muslims and President Obama. She called the president "the culmination of the Islamic-leftist alliance." It's one of the nicer things she's said about him. Here's a sampling of Geller's usual madness from her blog, Atlas Shrugs, in which she urges CNN to investigate the president:

So why not tell the truth about Obama and his reported strange sexual predilections? My question is, it is well known that Obama allegedly was involved with a crack whore in his youth. Very seedy stuff. Why aren't they pursuing that story? Find the ho, give her a show! Obama allegedly trafficked in some very deviant practices. Where's the investigation?

Here's our question: To borrow a phrase from Bob Dole, where's the outrage? Like three blind mice, the Republican candidates for governor spoke at the convention and pretended not to know about Geller's appearance. Do they agree with her and condone what she says? Who knows? We've come to expect little more from these three, who obviously would do or say just about anything to win this election. But what's really puzzling is that Democrats are quiet too. Where are the Democrats denouncing this event and the participation of Haslam, Wamp and Ramsey? We guess Mike McWherter hasn't mobilized his war room yet. Or maybe it's acceptable now in Tennessee politics for gubernatorial candidates to pander to hate mongers.
