At the City Paper, Joey Garrison is reporting that early voting went for General Sessions Court officer David Smith in a big way in the furiously contested (or should we say congested) Juvenile Court Clerk primary race. Not only did Smith trounce embattled incumbent Vic Lineweaver in the early vote, he got almost as much as Lineweaver, Vivian Wilhoite and Karen Johnson put together:
Early voting totals:
David Smith 1,028
Vivian Wilhoite 365
Vic Lineweaver 363
Karen Johnson 363
Garrison also reports that the early vote went for Davidson County Criminal Court Clerk incumbent David Torrence over challenger Michael Craddock by a more than 2-1 margin, 1,510 to 618. Watch the Metro Election Commission site for updates.
UPDATE, 9:52 p.m.: It's official: David Smith has defeated incumbent Lineweaver in the Democratic primary by an almost 4-1 margin. He'll square off against the Republican nominee, Eric Crafton. Torrence also defeated Craddock.
