Cinco in the Gulch Flood Benefit This Saturday May 15

Posted By on Fri, May 14, 2010 at 7:42 AM

Needless to the say, the original Cinco in the Gulch 5K & Block Party, originally scheduled for Saturday, May 1 — the day the big rain started — has been rescheduled for 4 to 9 p.m. this Saturday, May 15, at Velocity in the Gulch, 320 11th Ave. S.

A presentation of I Run for the Party — an organization that has the good sense to realize that a 5K or 10K is a helluva lot more fun when there's a bash afterward, and that raises money for area charities — Saturday's bash will forgo the run, and skip straight to the party (just the way we Pithsters like it). And most importantly, all of the proceeds will go to local efforts of the Nashville Red Cross and the Second Harvest Food Bank.

People who had already registered for the May 1 event will receive free entry and two free drink tickets, in addition to being able to collect their T-shirts and race bags from the canceled race. Admission for those not previously registered is $10. The event features free food and drink specials, including $5 Sauza margaritas and $4 Michelob Ultra. Attendees are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items for Second Harvest.
