The candidate who's about to take a vicious beating from his rivals in the governor's race is calling for civility in politics in this new TV ad. Do you think Zach Wamp and Ron Ramsey will laugh out loud or merely chortle to themselves when they see this?
"What if we had an election where we really did focus on the issues? That's what I'd like to do," Haslam says in his hysterically funny opening line in the ad.
Haslam will have the last laugh, of course. Once Wamp and Ramsey go on the attack, he will launch a nuclear counterstrike and wipe them off the map. He's already been taking polls to test their negatives. With this ad, he's thinking ahead. When his rivals start crying, he can claim he tried to play nice.

Zach Wamp creeps me out, C-Street, Intensity for the sake of intensity, no substance. No way. Ron Ramsey a bit of the zealot, I am supporting moderation and fiscal responsbility, that is Bill Haslam.
Wamp oozes snake oil. I passed him in the parking lot at a UT game back in '06 and my skin literally crawled. Haslam, party notwithstanding, is not a far cry from Bredesen in many regards. I hope Jeff, best man at my first wedding, is right about the strategic chronology.
I find all three of them to be ick-worthy. Ron Ramsey's anti-Washington act is completely put-upon, as I am sure he knows Tennessee receives more from the federal government than it contributes in tax revenue. Zach Wamp is just icky. And Bill Haslem? He runs nice truck stops, to be sure, but government is not business, and they shouldn't be run similarly.
