Nashville Symphony / Christopher Cross Date Now Free Outdoor Concert

Posted By on Wed, May 5, 2010 at 4:53 PM

With the Schermerhorn sidelined by flood damage, Friday's Nashville Symphony Orchestra pop date with Christopher Cross has turned into a free outdoor public concert 8 p.m. Friday, May 7, at the Metro Courthouse.

From the release:

The Nashville Symphony, with Christopher Cross, is offering a free outdoor concert at the Metro Courthouse as a special gift to the Nashville community. Giancarlo Guerrero, Music Director of the Nashville Symphony, and Albert-George Schram, the Resident Conductor, will lead the orchestra in a first half of classical and popular favorites. Cross will join the orchestra on stage for the second half.

"People have lost homes, and some have lost their lives in the recent flooding," said Alan D. Valentine, President and CEO of the Nashville Symphony. "Music is what we do, and we wanted to present this concert, against all the odds and challenges, as a way to help people begin the healing process, as a way to help get our community on the road to recovery."
