Microchip 'Mark of the Beast' Legislation Makes Hardball's Sideshow

So Rep. Susan Lynn didn't like my Pith post on her legislation to bar anyone from trying to stick a microchip under your skin against your will. Unlike Mark Sanford, I really was backpacking on the Appalachian Trail when she was trying to contact me to complain. I just got back and read her post.

Conspiracy theorists are pushing this legislation all over the country. As Chris Matthews reports in the video above, the Virginia House has passed it. No one disputes that one of the major motivations for the bill is the fear that microchips could become Satan's mark of the beast. Maybe that's not Lynn's main motivation. We never said it was. But either she believes it herself, in which case she's a kook, or she's pandering to kooks and exploiting their ignorance and fear for political gain. Which is worse? She shouldn't expect the media to look the other way or to pretend that what she's doing is the perfectly normal business of government.

Here's a must-see video on the terrifying Microchip Mark of the Beast:

Um, is this really a thing? This bill strikes me as a solution in search of a problem.
So far no one at the DMV has tried to lojack me subcutaneously, although they're certainly welcome to _try_.
It's like a bill restricting the use of anal suppositories in tax collection.

Jeff, it's called an "outgoing phone message." Typically when people are going to be out of the office they set their phone and email to let people know they're gone. They don't do this at the Scene?

The mark of the beast has been used for political purposes throughout history. Conspiracy theorists and religious fanatics saw the coming of the Social Security Number as the mark of the beast. In Roman times, only money which had been imprinted with the emperor's likeness would be accepted as currency and many Christians saw this to be the mark of the beast. People get real! If you are religious and you believe in end-times, do you really think that you can hold off the apocalypse through legislation? If indeed you do believe in an omnipotent all-powerful god, then you must realize that the end times have already been determined and your government can't unsaddle the four horsemen.

“you must realize that the end times have already been determined and your government can't unsaddle the four horsemen.”
“This bill strikes me as a solution in search of a problem.”
Two salient points illuminating standard governmental ineptitude and impotence. I agree, end times have already been determined. Not by a wrathful creator holding the reins of saddled and mounted horsemen of the apocalypse until its time to cut 'em loose though. But by circumstances already set in motion. And by the time the problem has been revealed the solution will long since have been rendered useless from legislative political shenanigans and patched over fixes calculated to offend the least number of voters.
I must say however, it is awfully tempting to enthusiastically support end run strictures forbidding ridiculous legislation emanating from mean spirited, ignorant, backwoods inspired philosophical thinking. You know, the stuff that causes me, white haired and toothless to have to produce ID proving I'm twenty one years old before I can buy a can of beer.
Go ahead, Susan. Go for it. Put a stop to something that isn't happening. It's useless but harmless. And might slow down the bullshit awaiting my children.

I just sent this post to a bunch of my friends as I agree with most of what you’re saying here and the way you’ve presented it is awesome.

Hi everyone
I just sold something on eBay & I have a reminder that states that the item sold is eligible for a second chance offer. What does that mean?

The social security number is your slave surveillance number. Can you open a bank account without one? Can you function in todays world without a bank account? Can big brother via the IRS take money out of your account for almost any reason?

Wake up, sheep. You're about to be culled.
