You have to wonder who pushed the legislature to kill Metro's menu labeling requirement. It's hard to believe our good-ole conservative legislature would impose a big government mandate on the counties telling them what to do or not do. They are conservatives aren't they?
Chnage begins at the top of management, not at the bottom. The CEO, CEEO, CFO and the Chairman of the Board need to issue a statement that as of today, they will not allow any type of discrimination against the LGBT community neithers as clients of the store nor employees working there. They need to give the LBGT employees working there the same exact employement rights benefits they give the hetrosexual employees. Anyone caught discrimating against anyone will be terminated immediately. If you write the rules you need to enforce them across the board. They would not now allow a manager to discriminate against people of color, nor handicap individuals. When is the world going to wake up and realize that one does not choose to be gay. They are born that way. Many don't come out early because of the extreme hatred and homophobia of the church their families, and organizations of the state and local government, schools, who allow discrimination and bullying of gays. Why would anyone want to join the group of the most hated people in the entire world, especially so very hated by the religious right and other religious denominations. Because of some so called "Jesus loving" missionary people from "Focus on the Family" missionary who went to Africa, one African nation government is now going to start killing gays because they were subtly told that Jesus hate gays and they now think that is a licenses to kill LGBT individuals. The missionaries tried to back up and say they really didn't mean for their words of venom and hated to be construded as meaning to kill the gays. Guess what when you spew out hatred and try to turn one group against another the blood is on your hands then. On that Great Day of Judgement those missionaries along with all of the other hate mongering preachers including James Dobson who runs "focus on the family", will stand before the Almightly God as he points at them after they have cried to him saying, "Lord, Lord have we not prayed for the sick, prayed in your name, done good deeds"? He will say, "Depart from me you workers of iniquity, for I never knew you"!
Churches are packed with divorcees who will tell you in a heart beat; that they know Jesus preached very harshly against divorce, but their sins are forgiven! It seems no matter what their sins, preachers, televangelist, deacons, Sunday School teachers, I could go on, but you all get the picture; they will be the first to step up to the cup of God's Grace and get their forgiviness. Let the word gay, lesbian, bi-sexual , transgender come into the mix and most think their's it is the un-forgiveable sin, its called HOMOPHOBIA that has been instilled in the church since the 11th century by priest and other do gooders who felt like if they could get the world to hate one group then it made them look better. Maybe they should read their Bible and see exactly what Jesus said about gays, Nothing! not a single word. But he did say liars, cheats, men who cheated on the wives, thieves, tax collectors, whoremongers, gossipers, would all feel the firey pits of hell.
Now it is time for the men and women who run a great restaurant, with great food to stop discrimaination against gays, put their antiquated religious views aside and try to for once in their lives ask the real question, on judgement day will you be proud of what you have done for share God's Love with the whole entire world. He will not care what your bottom line is of the Cracker Barrel. But is going to asked you about why you tollerated hatred in your life and business? What will your answer be?
And yet staff of 2 Cracker Barrel restaurants in Knoxville have been friendly towards our Transsexual members. Over past 11 years staff have watched a group founder transition from female to male while being a weekly, or more often, customer. Only once did a server make a comment in hearing range and she was fired on the spot. The other founder has brought in other FTMs as well as male-to-female guests in various stages of transition, without a murmur or loss of excellent service. There are 2 known Lesbians on staff at 1 restaurant we rarely go to. The problem is that firing someone for being gay is not illegal, and as long as the public does not see actual abhorrent behavior by Cracker Barrel there is not going to be much uproar. As Trans we are treated nicely in Knoxville, and if CB does not like gays then go work for their competition.
