Wamp Visits Capitol, Messes with Ramsey

A happy Zach Wamp strolled through the halls of the Capitol today just before the start of the special legislative session and took the opportunity to slap his political rival, Ron Ramsey, on a sore subject. At the bang of the gavel, which I just heard on my computer's earphones, Ramsey is banned by state law from raising money for his campaign for governor until the session ends. Wamp is under no such constraints, and this makes the congressman very happy. Wamp told Action Andy Sher the legislature shouldn't change the law to let Ramsey shake down lobbyists for campaign cash this session:
"I would think any logical analysis would say that if this needs to be changed it would be effective in the next election cycle, not this existing election cycle, the current election cycle. That would make no sense to change it in the middle of the cycle given the fact that everybody knew the rules going in."

Well said, Zachary WashingtonWamp.
Now you and Bill (Gibbons, that is) can raise funds far, far to the rear of Governor-to-be Haslam for what at best will be a 3-way tie for a distant second-place finish.
Remember, if you need to use the facilities in Nashville, to ask for the men's bath room or latrine instead of the powder room. Powder rooms have fallen out of vogue.

Upfrom..., you are in denial if you think Haslam is going to eclipse 30% in this race. Take your shots at Zach; I certainly do, but he's as much a player in the primary as anyone else.
Given, that still may be enough to win by a nose, but there won't be a run away victory for any GOP candidate.

Joe is probably the voice of reason in this race. He has seen all of the candidates in many different arenas and he knows what he's talking about.
Let's be honest with ourselves, there are three very good, qualified candidates running for Governor on the republican side- Zach Wamp, Ron Ramsey and Bill Gibbons. Haslam won the mayor's race in Knoxville by a very small percentage- and the only people in Knox who really like him are his rich buddies that live on Lyon's View. Spend a day in Knoxville and you will see Haslam stickers on the back of cars that cost $40,000 or more. If Haslam were some kind of a prodigy Mayor and was receiving state wide recognition for what he has done in Knoxville (like Corker was in Chattanooga as mayor) then MAYBE he would have a legitimate reason to run for Governor. BUT we have to be honest, the ONLY reason this man has a chance at all (and he does have a pretty good chance) is because he's one of the wealthiest s.o.b's in the state. His family has gotten everything they've ever wanted and they don't see why that can't include the executive residence.
Slowly but surely, Tennesseans will get to know the Haslam machine.. and slowly but surely, that machine will be shut down.
As much as Haslam brags on Knoxville he sure better like it because he's not going anywhere.
As for Ramsey, Gibbons and Wamp- well I'll also admit that Ramsey and Gibbons don't have much of a chance. This race is between Wamp and Pilot Oil.
Let the best man win.
