In Joey Garrison's must-read profile of Metro finance director Rich Riebeling, we found amusing this Riebeling quote about Mayor Karl Dean's stewardship of Metro: "People would be surprised how much input he has." Really? People would be surprised how much input the mayor has in running the city? ...Elringo DeAngelino, the homeless, wheelchair-bound street performer known to scores of Second Avenue visitors as Velvet Thunder, died Nov. 16 in a local hospital. Anyone wishing to make contributions toward his burial expenses should contact their local Bank of America. In the meantime, it's worth dimming the lights on Lower Broad for a minute in tribute. Good job, Kate Howard. ...A fight's on between preservationists and developers over plans to demolish the 1926 Ransom School building near Elmington Avenue. Guess which side attorney Tom White represents. ... Is a church nativity scene on the Clarksville riverfront a violation of the First Amendment? Here comes the big bad ACLU to kick over the Baby Jesus. ...Sad news on the local restaurant scene: the pioneering 12South nightspot The Mirror is up for sale. Enjoy it while it lasts. Meanwhile, Provence owner Terry Carr-Hall and his partner get an offer they can't refuse from the West Coast. ... Uh-oh: State Farm has filed suit begging to be let off the hook for legal fees or libel damages, should a court take exception to statements supposedly made by an attorney for country singer Sara Evans in her scorched-earth divorce proceedings. At issue: discussing charges that Evans' (now former) husband was sleeping with their (now former) nanny, lawyer John Hollins Sr. allegedly told tabloid reporters, "Hell, we have a picture of them having oral sex." ...Hooray! Taylor Swift beat Michael Jackson for the top American Music Award! (pause) What's an American Music Award?

Tom White also represents Gaylord and CEO Colin Reed in their fight against the Music City Center. Ask White how many checks he has dropped in campaign accounts for Metro Council members.
Ol' Tom always sides with the good guys.

The Tennessean reports that Gaylord and Kevin Sharp are running a push poll, spreading lies about the Music City Center and trying to get people to contact their Metro Council members.
They are desperate.
