Nashvillian Molly Secours Is Now a Regular Contributor to Huffington Post

Posted by Jack Silverman on Thu, Nov 12, 2009 at 11:14 AM

Nashville writer, filmmaker and activist Molly Secours--a subject of many a Pith post for both her insights into health care as a recent cancer survivor, and her struggles to keep her home out of foreclosure--has been picked up as a regular contibutor to Huffington Post. Secours will be contributing one or two stories a week to the left-leaning news and opinion website, and she couldn't be happier. "I feel kind of geeky how excited I am about it," she says. Last night Secours posted her first HuffPo story, about her recent trip to Washington. She first discussed the experience on her Red Room blog, which spurred quite a bit of debate here on Pith.

What's up with the dearth of posts at Pith lately? Ya'll used to average at least 5 a day.

Let's see...
1. Clueless about nature of meeting she attended - check
2. Uses phony statistics in article (Daily Kos poll? Get real!) - check
3. Slams Republicans, praises Democrats - check
4. Cherry picks anecdotes about healthcare - check
5. Feels that a program that adds more than a trillion dollars to the cost of healthcare in the US makes it more affordable - check
Yep, seems like an excellent choice to contribute to the Huffington Post

Calling HuffPo left-leaning is like saying the Sears Tower is just a multi-story building.

So is this a real job, complete with health insurance? I'm sure the liberal, compassionate folks at HuffPost care enough about their employees to provide this coverage.

"Uses phony statistics in article (Daily Kos poll? Get real!)"
Just because you don't like the source of a poll doesn't mean you can accurately call the results "phony." Seeing as how the poll was from a Democratic district, how is it exactly that you see the results as unreasonable?

I still want to know how she got to DC to act up and be all ugly with the Repubs.
Maybe an Acorn grant. God knows who bought her ticket. Did she stay in a fine place near the Mall? A lot of liberals when they reach a certain place begin to have special indulgences (as in Catholic) and enjoy an easy life while doing good.
I know she is a filmmaker and had cancer but you can't let her just skate, can you?
I have been sick, let me tell you....

Well, I thought I would have a look at Molly Secours bio and resume on her website. I was curious where she came from and where she went to college, you know, but it was not to be.
This I did find:
In 2000, she presented an intervention to the United Nations in Santiago, Chile, proposing that the U.S. "repudiate the official histories and language(s) that maintain the hegemonic and unearned privileges accorded to those who are identified as "white".

No college needed for her outstanding activism and filmmaking. She's no arm chair warrior, but a real warrior, armed with a camera, research, talent and fearlessness, who gets out there and makes the changes, and doesn't just read about them and give an opinion. Everyone has an opinion about what they see and read and hear...often erroneously, but getting out there and getting the facts and reporting them accurately, and in a way that makes a difference, is a true warrior. There's no degree for that.
Congrats, Molly!

"getting out there and getting the facts and reporting them accurately,"
Not even close.
She's merely a liberal propagandist.
