Concealed handgun permit holders killed at least seven police officers and 44 private citizens in 31 shootings over roughly the past two years, according to the Violence Policy Center, a gun control advocacy group. And the center says it's under-reporting the number of murders because it was forced to rely on news reports to compile the data. For Tennessee, the report lists only one killing--the motorist outside Memphis who grabbed his pistol and shot another man in a fit of road rage during an argument over how close their SUVs were parked--but Tennessee newspapers have accounted for at least three other killings this year by handgun permitees.Something tells Pith that Jackson isn't really interested in facts like these. Of course, he would argue that these killers would have gotten handguns with or without state-issued permits and committed their crimes anyway. And besides, he'd say, how many of these killings were in bars? There's no winning arguments with these gun nuts. You make a seemingly irrefutable point, and they just slice the baloney a different way. Luckily, Nashville restaurant owners and workers are pressing their lawsuit to toss out the law. We think they've got a strong case. Update: Tennessee makes ABC News. "Bringing Your Own Shots to the Bar."

Whatsamatter, fellas? Too difficult to write a morning round-up without mentioning Chris Ferrell is about to buy your ass?
Has Townes Duncan already ordered you to take down all your stories about him?
How about your old target Tom Lee at Waller being quoted as a "former media critic" in the Tennessean this morning? They sort of left out "registered lobbyist" didn't they.
Who will tell the truth when Southcomm runs this newspaper? Answer: Nobody.
Who will tell the truth when Southcomm runs this newspaper? Answer: Nobody.
Sure as shit won't be Adam Kleinheider.
The state of Colorado is looking at legislation that would allow CCW permit holders to avoid any and all background checks when purchasing firearms. Someone should pass this info on to people in Colorado, as well as the Memphis newspaper story outlining how many convicted felons were able to get CCW permits.
"Who will tell the truth when Southcomm runs this newspaper? Answer: Nobody."
LOL
Nobody at the Scene HAS been telling it anyway.
Of course, depending upon the VPC for news about firearms means having to eventually go back to the readers to explain why you fed them bogus information. Or... they can just read it for themselves here... and wonder why the anti-freedom and anti-firearm people have to lie to even attempt to make a case...

I guess fact checking is no longer part of journalism. Mr. Woods is part of the repeat a lie enough and it becomes the truth. Sad excuse for reporting.
Not only is that piece of propaganda from the VPC it has been roundly debunked. They didn't bother to document their work, but most/all of the incidents that could be traced turned out to be bogus.
Problem was that the little bit of reseach they did was merely looking up news articles and internet stories.
Another way that the VPC lied was to use "incidents" and ignore that practically all of the licence holders were eventually "no bileld" or acquited due to self-defense in the few cases where a license holder was actually involved.
Documented results show that violent crime goes DOWN in direct proportion to CHLs going up in states that adopt shall issue. This includes a reduction in murders, rapes, and robberies.
By now, all of the above is so well know that to ignore it is to risk being charge with dishonesty yourself, or at least incompetence on the issue.
Hey Jeffery, sorry to see you are still suffering from a severe mental illness and hope that sometime in the near future you take adavantage of your workplace psychological benefits to help ease your troubled and deluded mind.
For those of you who are concerned about Jeffery, he has been suffering for quite some time from a severe case of Hoplphobia.
Hoplophobia, n. Irrational, morbid fear of guns (c. 1980, coined by Col. Jeff Cooper, from the Greek hoplites, weapon; see his book Principles of Personal Defense). May cause sweating, faintness, discomfort, rapid pulse, nausea, sleeplessness, nondescript fears, more, at mere thought of guns. Presence of working firearms may cause panic attack. Hoplophobe, hoplophobic.
Hoplophobes are common and should never be involved in setting gun policies. Point out hoplophobic behavior when noticed, it is dangerous, sufferers deserve pity, and should seek treatment. When confronted about their condition, hoplophobes typically go into denial, a common characteristic of the affliction. Sometimes helped by training, or by coaching at a range, a process known to psychiatry as "desensitization," a useful methodology in treating many phobias.
Hoplophobic behavior is often obvious from self-evident irrational responses to real-life situations, and is frequently seen in the news media and public debate. When a criminal commits a crime using a gun, hoplophobes often seek to disarm, or make lists of, innocent people who didn't do anything, an irrational suggestion.
The idea of creating an enormously expensive government-run 90-million-name database of legitimate gun owners -- which by definition would not include armed criminals -- is a prime example of an irrational hoplophobic response to the issue of crime. How the writing of your name in such a list would help stop crime is never even addressed.
An effort is underway nationally to have hoplophobia recognized in the DSM, the official directory of mental ailments. Resistance from elements in the medical profession suggest this may be quite difficult, but that does not reduce the importance of recognizing a widespread, virulent, detrimental mental condition commonly found in the populace. The actual number of undiagnosed hoplophobes is unknown, but believed to be in the tens of millions.
Read Dr. Sarah Thompson's brilliant essay on the medical nature of this afflicition, the article that got the ball rolling on serious medical study of a condition affecting millions of Americans.
Hoplophobes are dangerous. They should not be involved in setting public policy.
Hoplophobes are victims. They are sick and need help.
Hoplophobes deserve sympathy. It's not their fault they are afflicted.
Hoplophobes should seek treatment.
We all hope you seek treatment soon for your vicious and debilitating mental illness Jeffery!
Although I usually continue to read, as soon as I see vpc or brady stats in an article I know that the reporter isn't concerned with the truth only his agenda of citizenry control.
Said it before I'll say it again. I sincerely hope this can be settled peacefully. However, I believe that it is only a matter of time before the government oversteps it's authority and goes the way of registration, which is the precursor to confiscation in virtually every other example is modern history.
Get ready 3% it's coming....oh yes it's coming!!! L.U.T.H.A.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The threepers are ready. The line in the sand has been set in concrete. It is the rest of the populace I'm concerned about.
