"I want to see health care reform take place. It's my hope after this recess that there will be a more centrist solution come forward." Corker gives his thoughts:
(1) Let's don't do harm. Those who have health insurance that they're satisfied with, let's don't harm them.
(2) Let's don't create massive problems for a program like Medicare.
(3) Having a government plan that competes with the private sector is a non-starter.
"There's no need for a public plan. It's like saying instead of owning 60 percent of General Motors, we need to own 100 percent of General Motors in order to keep Toyota honest."
Huh?
So what does he favor? He agrees with the essentials of the
Wyden-Bennett bill, which is the one that Rep. Jim Cooper is sponsoring in the House.
