Zach Wamp says he's leading the GOP field in an internal poll with 22 percent support. "I've got a real good lead. The most important thing was that I was first or second in every single media market in Tennessee." But as everybody knows, it's all about name ID at this point. Vandy's Bruce Oppenheimer: "As the campaign develops, the question is who will have the resources to buy name recognition?" The president blows off the Smokies' celebration. So we have to settle for Dolly Parton. ... Special license plates for trees are on sale. ... The Shelby County Commission is picking a stand-in for Paul Stanley. ... It's already illegal to carry guns into Knoxville parks. ... Early voting in the special election for Curt Cobb's House seat is slow, to say the least. Only 10 people have cast ballots. More members of Congress schedule town hall meetings. ... Tanner insists he's not afraid. Teleconferences are better, that's all. ... Roe says, "I haven't seen anything like this since the Civil Rights movement and Vietnam War protest," but he finds a friendly crowd at his town hall.
