Hannan McNeely Pigott & Fox's Twitter Fail

Nashville's biggest PR firm has charged the city half a million dollars (and counting) to Twitter, provide blog surveillance and spoon-feed Gail Kerr. As brilliant reader Scott points out, "the really sad thing is that the SupportMCC Twitter account only has (as of this posting) 155 followers. You'd think for that kind of $$ they could hit 200." Agreed. But here's a follow-up question for you Scott. If 155 followers is sad, how much sadder is it that that puny number is inflated by porn spammers?

Damn it, Caleb. You now know that every time you write about this, they have to use our tax dollars to pay someone to read it. This right here is probably $5 worth of reading material we're going to have to pay for.

Hey look'ee there, it's up to 161 now so we may be helping them earn their moolah.
This is the problem with these corporate/pr Twitter accounts. They don't care about content and getting really useful info out to followers, they care more about numbers to justify their cost. If they had 1,000 spammers they would more happy with that rather than 100 interested Nashvillians. In fact maybe they could charge more $$ to the Metro! Get this kind of crap off of Twitter and it may become useful once again.
