Add Wife Beater to the List of Accusations Against Stanley

Posted by Jeff Woods on Thu, Jul 23, 2009 at 3:43 PM

Post Politics has dug up a 1994 restraining order sworn out by Sen. Paul Stanley's first wife:
"Paul has verbally abused me as well as my children using very vulgar language. Also, this incident that occurred Feb 6th, 1994 is the third he has physically hit me. After verbal abuse and physically hitting me -- pushing -- removing his glasses ready for a confrontation. He was going out the door to leave our house and he hit me with a tremendous blow and then he proceeded to turn and run away from me outside the garage to the street."
Here's the kicker:
Shortly after the incident described above transpired the couple divorced. Stanley shortly thereafter met his current wife while working for Bill Frist's U.S. Senate office in Memphis. Kristi Stanley also worked in Frist's Memphis office -- as an intern.

Family values indeed.
But we can't take an incident so long in the past and use it to judge someone's character now....unless we're trying to paint his accuser as a lying whore and then anything they can dig up is fair game.

What's the issue? This is nothing compared to everything else that has gone on in the state capital this past session.
For example, Senate Bill 1092, sponsored by Stanley, would prohibit local governments from requiring calorie information on menus. Everyone knows, Tennessee is the buckle on the lard belt. Anything that can improve health at negligible cost is a no-brainer. Yet, this bill (forbidding calorie info) passed 30-1 in the Senate (thanks Sen Haynes) and passed 79-12 in the House. What planet are these people from? Things bad now? Can you imagine what we can expect with no adult supervision once Gov Bredesen's term ends?
Yes, Stanley is a hypocrite, but he regularly does much worse things, as the above example shows. Unfortunately, with the death of the newspaper industry, there's no over-sight anymore.

Stanley is your typical hypocritical right wing "God speaks to me and ONLY to me and I know exactly what God means so everyone should listen to me, honor me, and worship me. Oh yes, and if you are a young woman, have sex with me, but don't mind the middle age paunch cause I am your messenger from God."
