Without a Teleprompter: Fox News' "The Shep" McNair Commentary FAIL

Posted by Brantley Hargrove on Wed, Jul 22, 2009 at 10:30 AM

Here's a little gem of logic from Fox News' Shep Smith: "It is certainly not illegal to sit there and do nothing while you wait for your girlfriend to come shoot you to death."

Indeed, Shep Smith. I agree that there is no such law on the books. To my knowledge, getting murdered is not a crime in this country. Nor is being drunk in your own home. So thanks for that, Shep. For the benefit of my future amusement, Fox News, could you arrange Shep Smith teleprompter malfunctions more often?

Hey, Shep Smith is awesome. He's the only person on Fox News that's in on the joke. His teleprompters have been failing on a regular basis, so it's almost a running gag at this point. Also, he seems to exhibit actual reason and nuanced thought on issues from time to time. Of course he's prone to bombast - he is on Fox News. But when they dump him (and they will), I figure he'll pull a reverse Glenn Beck and go to another network and offer sane commentary on news and politics.

Did he refer to himself in the third person?
What strange commentary. Very crass and insensitive to McNair's family.

As stupid as he might be, he earned at least some small portion of respect from this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEtFMj6ZiHM
