Until his name became synonymous with hypocrite a few minutes ago, Sen. Paul Stanley was fond of preaching traditional family values. As he crusaded to take away the right of gay people to adopt children in Tennessee, he spoke knowingly of the ideal home environment that only a loving married couple can provide and of the importance of his own conservative Christian upbringing in molding his viewpoints. Children's advocates met with Stanley, a Sunday school teacher, on that issue this year, explaining that many kids are unwanted and will remain in state custody if gays are barred from adopting. But he swore to them he wouldn't give up until his bill became law. "He has a very definite viewpoint on this, and I think he will continue to bring it up until it passes," one advocate reported. "He makes it very clear. The basis of this is his evangelical Christian upbringing. His tradition, his belief system. The hetereosexual male-female married couple is the ideal situation for children. He's made that very clear." Here are a few quotes from Stanley that he's now probably wishing he never said: "Our responsibility is to put these children in the best homes in the ideal environment. It's not always the perfect environment. The ideal environment is a married couple that are able to bring them up in a great home life. And, if they're not married, a lot of times there's just not the commitment to one another. Now, there's exceptions to that as there is a lot of things, but over the course a lot of relationships, that's definitely the case." "The best home environment is one where Mom and Dad are there." And Pith's personal favorite: "When you're married, there's a commitment there." Ah, those were happy, cocksure times for Stanley. Now, his political career is toast and, before lunchtime tomorrow as news of this sex scandal spreads, he'll be a laughingstock all across the state. It's almost enough to make you feel sorry for the senator. Ha! Just kidding. As Pete Kotz wrote here back in February, Stanley is a cruel jackass who deserves a punch from God. It's about time.

And Ron Ramsey and the Republican Caucus said that Jessa and me were the only ones . . .
I don't think Paulie could adopt children wearing the sweater he has on in that pic . . .

I feel sorry for his wife and kids. How he is going to explain this to them, Heaven only knows.
Bets on how long it will take him to go soul searching, get "saved" and try to re-launch his career with even more fervent disdain for anyone different than him?
Course, this is going to hurt Nashville's economy, what with drastically reduced Viagra sales and all.
