In this interview with CNBC loudmouth Larry Kudlow, Sen. Bob Corker makes it clear he's not much interested in finding a way to overhaul the health care system in this country. Of the House proposal, Corker says "it almost makes Madoff look like a piker. ... So it's pretty phenomenal to me." And he warns, "I feel a train wreck coming. ... I just see things spinning apart right now. And I don't know what's going to happen. I would have predicted a possibility of a bipartisan solution not long ago, I'm not sure about that now."

Corker is following the GOP script here. Expanding health care is too expensive, especially during a recession, it would hurt small businesses, bankrupt the states, it's too much, too soon, etc. OK, so what's the Republican solution? Um, well ... House GOP leader John Boehner says, "We are continuing to draft our bill, and we hope to have it soon."

At the end of his segment, it must have occurred to Corker that he was coming across as Dr. No on the health-care issue. "And let me say," he piped up, "Republicans are willing to, want to, look at ways of helping people who can't afford private insurance to do that." Sure you are, senator.

No, that's probably accurate. "Look at" rather than "implement."
"We looked at it, but decided that it wasn't feasible."

How ironic that these people who so hate Darwin go so wild over the most excellent ideas of Malthus, who was Darwin's dedicated disciple. He believed that the population dying out regularly wasn't a bad thing. "Let them eat cake," has been replaced by "Tell them to rise, take up their bed, and go out and get a job with insurance benefits, like me!" Otherwise, don't touch my tax dollars to change anything.
