If You Were Sarah Palin, You'd Be Doing the Same Thing

Ace correspondent Mark Breton offers a lay Republican's take on Sarah Palin: This morning I got up, flipped on the tube and looked for the weather and traffic reports. I got something else entirely. I was amazed at the reaction that Sarah Palin is getting because of her antics. I expected the talking heads on the national news to start spinning 360s and spitting pea soup. She leaves a good job in Alaska (OMG! Give up power!?), looks to greener pastures, and all of this without permission and with no guarantees. They think she's nuts. She's not; she's just got some lightning in a bottle right now. Her qualifications? The press hates her, the insider Republicans hate her, she doesn't cling to power like grim death, she's easy on the eyes in all the ways Hillary isn't, and she believes in her values. Supposedly 7 out of 10 Republicans would vote for her now just because of the aforementioned reasons. She is the most dangerous of candidates, and the newsies know it, because of her similarities to old Ron himself. She isn't playing by their rules. I've read the press; they cannot wrap their mind around the strategy. The libs got their messiah (and you can have him for all I care), a man who can speak when prompted, but often doesn't say anything, contrasted with a woman who rambles but has a backbone, mostly. Don't get me wrong, I don't like everything about her, but dang, she's got chutzpah. If someone offered me a high-paying job right now where all I would have to do is quit my current job, have someone help me write a book, travel around the country giving aw-shucks speeches, and show up on the talking head shows now and then, I'd jump on it in a heartbeat. I might even run for president. Even if you don't like her, can you blame her? With the way the Democratic economy is tanking, we all need to be out there making as much money as we can, before they take it all to pay for Uncle Obama's healthcare program. -Mark Breton

The best satire is the kind where you aren't 100% sure it's really satire. Is this that kind?

I wish it were, Scott. I really do.
"Department of Law," Breton. That's all I'm gonna say.

Thanks Mr Breton....I will keep the one I voted for, the one pulling our asses out of the muck his predecessor put us in, and you can cling to this moron until hell freezes over. I wonder who will be happier at the end of the line? I'm taking bets.

Thanks, Mark, for illustrating so clearly just a few of the reasons the republicans are so deservedly out of power, and in such disarray these days. Whatever happened to civic duty or responsibility as signs of character? If someone is willing to write your flashy supposed governor a check, who gives a flip about the citizens of Alaska, right? Lightning in a bottle? Fool's gold is more like it. Obama is the one who rambles and says nothing, when compared to Palin? Ha! Did you actually listen to that latest bit of utter nonsense, her resignation speech? The aquatic birds squawking behind her made more sense. "Can you blame her" for walking away from her sworn duty to her constituents? Uh, yes, we sure as hell can. Is that how the proud military she rhetorically falls back on all the time conducts itself? The media hates her? Uh, no - she's just continually makes herself the easiest target on the planet to dissect with her myriad scandals, empty logic, and defensive wackiness. But hey, she's easy on the eyes, right? Sarah Palin epitomizes everything that is wrong with today's GOP, so in many ways, she is the perfect person to lead your party now. As someone who opposes your ideas, I urge republicans to give us all the Sarah you can, so she can continue to enhance your party's standing the same way she enhanced the McCain campaign. If she represents your party's latest attempt to revive Reagan, you're in even worse shape than what is presently evident. And what's evident today ain't so easy on the eyes - even with a $150K budget for wardrobe, or the $68K budget for hair and makeup.

For the Other Scott, it is somewhat satire; if it had been me, I would have stuck out my term as Govenor despite all of the frivolous lawsuits. Sometimes you just have to slug it out. For Hargrove, I respectfully ask, what exactly is the "department of Law?" Do you mean the department of Justice, or is there another shadow government agency I missed while I was fitting my tin-foil hat?
For Will Barrow, I would ask you to show me one way in which we are better off now than we were pre-Obama. The war in Iraq goes on, with increased violence and death. The national debt is astronomically huge, something the Senator-President supported increasing, in both seats, he hasn't closed Guantanamo, fighting in Afganistan has been escalated, unemployment is up to 10%, him and his buddy Biden can't actually tell you if the stimulus stimulated, etc. Tell me one thing he promised in the campaign that he has actually delivered. Oh yeah, I have more hope now. Hope it's only one term. Prestodan, you're right, the republicans are acting like a thread on dailykos; lots of noise, not much making sense. You winge about Palin while you hate her, you try to hold her to a standard that your own man didn't keep (senator for a day, anyone?) Are you from Alaska? Did you vote for her, and has she personally let you down? Is there not a mechanism in the Alaska constitution that allows for resignation and succession? The point I was trying to make was that she's a hot commodity and she might as well get what she can while she can. She isn't going to be the next president, more than likely. And if you don't like the way she looks, quit lookin' at her. You people amaze me, constantly trying to hold people to a standard you yourself hold in comtempt. Tell me where the sense is in that? I don't hold liberals to any standards; isn't the whole point of liberalism to not have any standards, to eschew absolutes?

I can't recall a time when a blogger has come back to the comment section to defend himself. And no, I will not prove anything to you...time will take care of that. It's been less than 7 months, and the next 6 or so will show you what we voted for.
As for your reappaearance here, me thinks you doth protest to much. A more secure blogger would have no need to show this side. You are just like Bailin Palin...SO sensitive!!

Oh, you haven't hurt my feelings a bit. One thing I am not, is sensitive to criticism. If you read my other blogs you will see I often get into the mix with the responses. I like to interact with the readers, perhaps more so than other bloggers. It isn't to defend myself, as such; it's the give and take of ideas I enjoy. I love to learn, not just reinforce my own thoughts. And if you are going to quote Shakespeare, whom I consider the greatest observer of human behavior, you might want to spell it right. I believe the word you are looking for is "too." I know they teach grammar at the local Jr. College. You might consider it.

It seems strange that so many liberals are mad about her leaving considering they hate her anyway.

After reading this blog I see no reason to seek out anymore from this author.
Yes Mark, that is the proper spelling of the word "too". That's poor typing on my part, not ignorance.
What's your excuse for all the commas you use?

I like commas, maybe? I was yanking your chain, man. Are you going to get sensitive like Sarah Palin on me?

Mark...I don't believe it's possible for me to be that sensitive. I'm not that in touch with my feminine side.
Ok, that's all the chatter I have left for you. I'll see you in the funny papers.
