Three years ago, you would have had trouble getting a ticket to see Sarah Jones perform her one-woman show Bridge and Tunnel on Broadway. (Initially produced by Meryl Streep in its off-Broadway run, the show eventually won Jones a special Tony Award.) Tonight, you'll have an even harder time getting into the free performance she's giving 6:30 p.m. at the Southside Community Church in 12South.
The acclaimed actress and monologuist is making a stop in Nashville tonight as part of a three-city tour intended to raise awareness of the fight for health-care reform. She'll perform her multi-character piece A Right to Care, which she performed just two weeks ago for President Barack Obama at the White House. Co-sponsored by the Service Employees International Union, the show is free and open to the public, but seating is limited and online reservations were expected to fill up by last night.
It's still worth calling 244-9791 to see if there are any seats left. And even if you already have a reserved place, show up early tonight at Southside Community Church, 2080 12th Ave. S.
