Ron Ramsey claims "an eye-popping $1.3 million fund-raising month, demonstrating his campaign has hit the ground running at full speed." The press release is here. And Ramsey doesn't even care anymore that the other candidates can raise money all year long while he's forbidden by law from shaking down lobbyists during legislative sessions:
"I know what it's like to start from the ground up in business, in government, and in campaigns," Ramsey said. "I don't mind that other folks inherited advantages in this campaign that I can't control - I'm going to earn it every step of the way."
Give Ramsey his props for essentially equaling Zach Wamp's haul even though Wamp had much longer to work at it. But let's not get too carried away here, Ramsey fanatics. Remember that Ramsey could leverage his office while Wamp presumably has less pull now that he's leaving Congress. The lobbyists dutifully have ponied up for Ramsey. How much more can they give? This is the low-hanging fruit both candidates have snagged. It's harder from this point on.

Update: Plus, as someone has just reminded me, Haslam raised $1.4 million in one night at his first fund-raiser.
