You need to wake up and smell the coffee. I do not care if Ms. Gortho whatever her name is has surved 100 years! you're a law maker and you sit there and tell us that you're following policy???? this is the president of the United States were're talking about. You need to fire such people and she will be fired she has to. There was no reason for having such an e-mail in the first place. Stop lying to us that this email did not come from the Republicans you're in the deep south and we know what that means.

It appears her website has been taken off line. Here is what I could get from cached info. Please flood Diane Blacks office with a request to fire this staffer. This is appalling and her silence is a code that she condones this behavior.

Caleb Hannan, the writer of this story must have a personal agenda. For some reason so much of the media equates Republican with racist or evil intent. Ms Black's record refutes this frontal assault by a yellow journalist. Any member of the corporate community knows that to fire an employee and KEEP them fired, one must go through HR. Not only does Ms Black want to be ethical, legal and EFFECTIVE; It also appears she has the common sense to deal with this matter from an appropriate platform rather than the knee jerk red herring suggestion of Mr Hannan. Where did they get this guy and why hasn't HE been fired for incompetence?
Check with Woods but Sen. Black does not, in fact, have the power to fire Ms. Goforth. While Sen Black could certainly request that Goforth be fired and/ or assigned to work for another Senator, the ultimate decision whether to fire her rests with Ron Ramsey, candidate for Governor. While it is certainly appropriate to pressure Sen Black about this, Ramsey is the only person who can actually do something.
No, don't fire her, reassign her to work in a department where she can work a diverse group of people...oh, wait, never mind, I forgot...she works for the Tennessee Republican Party.

Are you serious? Man, I have no idea why they would feed that assumption. In Tennessee alone, we have this most recent incident, Barack the Magic Negro, the black bird advertisement, the birther "controversy", etc. Not to mention the recent Wash Times editorial about Obama being a secret Muslim, so watch out. Maybe you should try to hold Republican's to a higher standard and stop blaming the media, Jim.
I don't get it. Isn't Ms. Goforth a state employee, legislative branch? This would mean that personnel actions against her would have to be taken by the Department of Personnel. Of course, her supervisor would definitely have the ability to censure her and request that she be removed. Of course, she has, as former state trooper Shirley did, abused her computer privileges.
I don't really see where Ron Ramsey would be the one who would make this call, at all. Of course, he's in a really important position, and is about to maneuver it into a chance to become governor. But unlike the case of private industry jobs, you can't really be fired from the state arbitrarily and immediately, even by Ron Ramsey or Phil Bredesen.
There's something so icky going on in this state. "I'm so sorry IF anyone's offended." Unsaid is, "if you're one of us, you won't be, and you'll understand." Unfortunately, it appears that "us" is in complete political control of the state of Tennessee.

She should be fired immediately. This means do not wait until tomorrow or a couple of hours from now, but today. Would this individual still be employed if she were black and the president was white?? No, she would have been escorted off the premises if the situation were reversed.

Well, gee, perhaps that's because within TWO days there have been TWO ugly racist Republican incidents: one from this idiot Goforth and one from South Carolina GOP member Rusty DePass.
Republicans wanted to "rebrand" their party, and they certainly have done that!....I doubt it was the kind of change the RNC had in mind, though. WTG.

I'm glad you realized the e-mail picture is not funny, however, I'm dismayed that you don't think it's real racism. Unfortunately, I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain how racist that picture is.
As for your remarks about Memphis, the real racism is your attitude towards a city where most of the residents don't share your skin color.

TN- I grew up in TN and was force fed the beliefs of southern baptists, and the republican party (even though they are both one in the same).
Racism in TN is so rampant among the upper-middle class in TN that we are absolutely doomed.
I have spoken with some quite reasonable republican supporters and their views are not supported by their party either but they refuse to vote any other way. They clammer on an idea of a "third party", but none of them are too anxious to get started.
With all the national hype......why don't Democrats call out to these individuals and pledge to reform the whole two party system.
