John Rich for Governor? Really? I mean, what?

John Rich announced on Larry King Live last night that he may run for governor of Tennessee. Now, if you've been apprised of some of his more entertaining shenanigans indicating a very real and very self-destructive drinking problem, you may have been stunned and bemused, like I was.

Let's take a look at Rich's recent local history and decide how improbable such a bid actually is.

There's this awkward encounter at Legends Corner where Rich says something inaudible to Jared Ashley, a former contestant on Nashville Star, then points to each member of Ashley's band and points down, as if to say, "You'll never work in this town again!"

Now there's the assault charge and a 79-page lawsuit filed by Ashley, claiming Rich punched him in the face, replete with rambling and apparently drunken messages left by Rich and Sebastian Bach.

Let us not forget the unfortunate incident in Cafe Coco when Rich tossed a beer bottle because a waiter attempted to cut him off at 3 a.m. and was subsequently kicked out.

There's the affidavit by former bodyguard Robert Smith, leveling allegations of general conflict-seeking, bullying and severe assholery by Rich. (Give it a read. Very troubling)

So, there's that. Good luck with that bid for the Guv's seat, John Rich. I'm sure there aren't skeletons in your closet, ripe for exploitation by your opponents. Improbable? We think so.

Let's not forget the eyesore that he is building at the top of Love Circle.

Which doesn't even get into the fact that he's an unabashed Bushie. He'd probably drag Dick Cheney in to campaign for him . . .
Let's hope they go hunting first.

And let's not forget his most egregious misdeeds, his crimes against music!

Well at least it will be a very entertaining campaign to watch. Lord help us.

I actually think that the fact that he's willing to build a giant coffee-maker-looking thing on top of Love Circle speaks well of his ability to carry on the newly-founded tradition of building weird-ass money-wasters at the Governor's mansion.
He may not be well-qualified to be Governor, but he's well-qualified to at least be the Governor's spouse.

If the Legislature passes an anti-abortion amendment, does that mean Rich will have to tear down that thing on Love Circle?

@Jack. I would agree wholeheartedly with your statement, but he did co-write that Jason Aldean song "Amarillo Sky," which is pretty good. I'll give him that. But that's like saying of a murderer, "what about all the people he came across that he DIDN'T kill?"

That queer-eye facial hair thing he has going on will doom him.

You're forgetting about the obnoxious house he's in the process of constructing on Love Circle near Vanderbilt. This guy is a fucking loser.

For Governor, let's have:
Tim McGraw running as a Dem.
John Rich running as a Repub.
And Dolly as an Independent?!?

I can't think of a more laughable concept than that no-talent @ss clown trying to win Tennessee. There isn't a chance in hell this would ever happen.
Move back to Texas, loser...

I've never seen him in person and never in a picture standing next to other men. Isn't he short like Napoleon?

I've seen him on Broadway. He is a tiny, tiny man.

Why not, this is Merica, consider recent state governors -
- Jesse Ventura
- Sarah Palin
- Arnold Schwarzenegger
- Don Sunquist
- George W. Fcvkup
- current TN skinhead legislature
By these measures, some hillbilly like Rich sounds reasonable.

Didn't Sammy Kershaw run for Gov. of Louisiana recently?
I'm sure this isn't serious, just something to get Rich more publicity.

that horrible thing he's building up on love cirlcle, he hasn't been able to finish in like 3 yrs. He has accusations of being a coke head, booze hound and a massive womanizer. (sounds like good ol' politics) however, back in 2004 he was announcing he was gonna run for prez in 2024. Since then all he's done nothing. He backed up Fred Thompson, that fell through, then McCain and that fell through, so he's doing the next in line. I think if you look at his record..all of it, you will be surprised how many would vote for him. He is STILL selling records and producing records, which shocks me...NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF STUPID PEOPLE IN LARGE GROUPS. For all we know he might get into politics. I don't care i'm in texas, DON'T SEND HIM BACK HERE!!!

This man is ridiculous! Who let him into country music? Ok, so he can co-write a song on Jason's album, but Big & Rich sucks! They both looked high when I saw them perform, have heard that John does cocaine. He has little man syndrome and his show Gone Country sucks! Please, someone kick this man out of Nashville!

It's true, John Rich is building something on top of Love Circle- but to me, it looks like a ferret more than it looks like a coffee pot and to John, it may very well look like his home.

I think you must combine a video clip to your post in order to make it much more fascinating. Though I liked the way you write
