ESPN On Lane Kiffin's Wild Start at Tennessee

Posted by Jeff Woods on Tue, Jun 9, 2009 at 1:06 PM

Have you seen this ESPN segment on the crazy beginning to Lane Kiffin's ride as Tennessee's coach? To me, the fact that ESPN would do this report at all shows what Kiffin is doing is working. As the coach says, "Are some fans at other schools offended or on chat rooms saying bad things? Who cares?" Highlights include this Oakland Raiders' statement:
"Lane Kiffin is a flat-out liar. He lied to the team, he lied to the fans and he lied to the media. He will try to destroy that university like he tried to destroy the Raiders and will eventually clash with Summit and Pearl. Other than that, the Raiders can say nothing further."
And this from athletic director Mike Hamilton:
"The fact that he was able to come in and tie down a top 10 recruiting class is evidence of the fact that he got some attention for our program in a very short time. ... We really had kind of fallen off the landscape in terms of national attention. You hadn't seen the Power T on television as much as maybe it needed to be to get our recruiting rejuvenated. That was his methodology and I don't disapprove of it."

Let's go buy some tickets Woodsy and do a road trip to The Hill this fall. That got me fired up, man!!
I don't care what Lane does as long as he beats the crimson huns from south of the border.
