NRA Checks Who's Naughty and Who's Nice

Posted by Jeff Woods on Wed, Jun 3, 2009 at 9:27 AM

Rep. Curry Todd has just announced to the House of Representatives that National Rifle Association chief lobbyist Chris Cox is in the gallery today for the big vote to override the governor's veto of the guns-in-bars bill. Isn't that nice? He's like Santa Claus, making a list. We're not sure when the House will vote, but Todd says it'll happen today.

If only they would check the list of people given permits to carry concealed handguns as thoroughly. Seems like I remember there were a few convicted felons on that list.
I know, not possible, I forgot. Oh, and let's just make that list super-secret so we never have to be bothered with such pesky facts again. That ought to solve the problem.

Why can't Tennesseans pack heat in Legislative Plaza? And in the House and Senate galleries? I mean, we're assured that permit holders are such law adiding citizens, let 'em bring their Glocks to session. If I'm going to have to eat my Applebee's Bourbon Street Steak next to Dirty Harry, why shouldn't our punk ass House and Senate members have to cast their votes next to him?
