Legislature / Woods Gun Freaks Acting Like Schoolyard Bullies

It is now coming out that several of those police chefs [sic] may not have been as excited about the governors over ride [sic] on the gun bill as he would like people to believe. We are now finding out they were all in town for some convention or other and were asked to come over and meet the governor during a break. Of course most of them went. When they got there they were all piled in together and finally told what it was about just shortly before the signing of his veto with them as the backdrop. They did not come to the event knowing they were about to be used.What could explain all this whining? We're thinking that legislators must have heard it from constituents on this bill over the weekend. Maybe they're finally figuring out that reasonable people actually don't think guns in bars is such a wonderful idea.

First of all, that the taxpayers are on the hook for police chefs is crazy considering the budget mess. What next? Police nannies, butlers and such? Second, that Campfield is such a dumbass that he thinks the governor "over rides" the bill. No, Stacy, he vetoes it and then you and your pea-brained redneck ilk override it.

Let's hope that the six million Tennesseans that don't have carry permits - in other words, the vast majority of Tennesseans that know allowing guns in bars is a bad idea - are standing up and raising hell with morons like Campfield and Todd.
Poor Jeff, he's such a moron. Obviously, he didn't even bother to actually READ the bill.
So when the Commercial Appeal posts a searchable database of private citizens who have carry permits they are 'mak[ing] state government more transparent' and upholding the First Amendment. When TFA compiles a list of public employees who appeared in uniform (thus representing that they are acting in their capacity as police officers and not private citizens) they are 'making it more convenient to harass these law officers'.
Nope, no double standards here . . .
So Brucie, you're saying that since the TFA does it, it's okay for the newspaper to do it?
I also don't believe that the newspaper includes a blog posting that urges its readers to contact the bosses of the people on the database to harass the people on it, like the TFA does.

What some simpletons call "harassment" we call "making accountable". See, the govt does not have the same rights as citizens. Try reading the documents your country was founded on. These were tax payer-funded public servants LOBBYING YOUR GOVERNMENT and attempting to INFLUENCE LEGISLATION. It is despicable and ANTI DEMOCRACTIC. YOUR LEGISLATURE THAT REPRESENT YOUR STATE passed this into law with HUGE MARGINS. Serpas shows that he HATES THIS CITY AND THE STATE OF TENNESSEE by doing this. Serpas has been crossing the line for years and we've finally broken his sphere of influence over local govt. and he's not the only one, apparently. THAT is why we want their names. So that these PUBLIC SERVANTS WHO OWN GIANT HOUSES PAID FOR BY LAW ABIDING TAX PAYERS can be held accountable for such unethical, ANTI AMERICAN behavior. The next bill that goes to the house should be a bill targeting PUBLIC SERVANTS LOBBYING THE TN GOVERNMENT and abusing their positions in attempt to dictate the law.

You have NO inherent right to have the government provide you with permit information. It is a ridiculous practice and that is why we will eventually have the records sealed. Just like I can't go pull your driver ID info, medical history, social security info...you shouldn't be allowed to troll through govt records in order to harrass private gun owners. And you won't, shortly. The govt should ASSUME everyone is armed and rightly so. Up until a few decades ago, NO ONE would ever take people like you seriously. SLAVES are disarmed. The right to free speech and to own weapons for self defense is the PINNACLE of freedom. You take a right that your ancestors could never hope to have (thanks to tyrants and dictators) and you piss on it because you've been CONDITIONED to do so.

Why can't all the second amendment folks move to Texas and vote to secede? After they finished defending themselves from each other, those who are still standing could try to find the next state to join them, like Montana or Alaska.

I suspect most of the useful idiots supporting this bill haven't read any of it. It doesn't allow carry in bars. For you mouth breathers out there, that means establishments that derive most of their income from sale of booze. What it does permit is carry in resturants that derive a minor portion of their income from the sale of alcohol and the majority of their income from the sale of food. It also prohibits the consumption of alcohol by those armed customers.
This is typical PSH by the know-nothing hoplophobes.

On second reading I am confused by your post. You say "useful idiots supporting this bill" (which would be the pro 2nd Amendment position) and then you go on to mention hoplophobia. My apologies if you support the right to carry in restaurants.
Here we go again, the 2nd Amendment haters still don't have a clue as usual. PeterT wrote correctly, in Tennessee, we don't have bars; we have establishments (restaurants) that less than 51% of their proceeds are derived from the sale of alcohol, period. sueyyyy said, "Why can't all the second amendment folks move to Texas and vote to secede? The 2nd Amendment is one the reasons that you people that disavow it are able to have YOUR right to speak and write the idiotic shtick that you do, i.e., the 1st Amendment. Just remember, when the time comes that we that believe in the 2nd, protect those of you that would ridicule us (and it's coming sooner that you might think); just say thank you and go on; thanks will be enough, we are law-abiding citizens and need no more than that. When HB962 is vetoed and the restaurants that choose to still post "NO FIREARMS", I and many others will cease to enter those establishments. When you 2nd Amendment haters are confronted with a REAL criminal, remember that someone could have maybe saved your life or your property.

Typical. Those in favor of sensible reasonable concealed carry by honest citizens use logic and historical precident to make their case. Those opposed use speculation, fear, and "what if" fairy tales to demonize their opponents.
Here's a thought, if someone gets drunk, hauls out a gun, and starts shooting up a bar, then they have no respect for the law in any case. What exactly makes you think this particular legislation will somehow magically make them obey? Pretty much the same issue as the National Parks thing. Folks who are up to mischief will do so in any case. The rules are only followed by the respectable citizens, the ones you probably want armed in case of trouble. So once again bad people do bad things so we have to punish the folks who didn't do anything wrong and prevent them from access to the tools necessary for their self protection.

I've got news for you, the armed citizenry is already large enough to overwhelm. However, there is no desire by us to do anything more than be left alone with our God given rights non infringed, no more, no less.

Now that the veto has been over-ridden, the language inside the bill will allow toddlers to frequent bars and order booze while carrying 88mm flak cannons.
No I haven't actually read the bill, but some supporter of the Brady Campaign told me this and that's all I need to know.
