Our Question of the Day: Should Devaney Fire Hobbs?

The state GOP executive committee actually did the reasonable thing for a change, choosing Chris Devaney as the new party chair. It's a step toward moderation, according to Tom Humphrey. Pith in the Wind takes credit for Devaney's squeaker victory. Cleverly, we used a little reverse psychology on the committee, demanding that they elect rich guy Oscar Brock or crazy state Rep. Eric Swafford. It's never a surprise when Republicans go against the wishes of Pith. Now, Devaney has a few decisions to make. Will the party continue on the ridiculous path laid out by Robin Smith, who thinks (1) America's fighting a holy war against Islam (2) it's fine to refer to the president as "Uncle Obama" and (3) it's also perfectly OK to use race-baiting tactics in an election campaign? Here's another question for Devaney. Now that the party's behaving reasonably again, should you employ a lightning-rod communications director whose disgraceful press releases have brought national derision to the state party and who is universally viewed as a far-right lunatic by political reporters? We're just asking.

When my enemy is digging his own grave, I should stop him?
I think not.

You guys already cost this man one job. Shouldn't that be enough? Or are you really planning on following him from job to job for the rest of eternity, clamoring for his failure and ouster?
Look, I'll be honest. He performed huge kindnesses for me on several occasions. He also says some really dumbass things. That to my mind makes him like most people--a combination of good things and annoying things.
This just makes you look really petty, Woods. Really really petty.

Just to recap:
Combining "Uncle Sam" and "President Obama" to be "Uncle Obama": Racist
Calling someone an Indian terrorist because he goes by "Curry", and that "we'll soon be watching movies where everybody's dancing and singing": Not Racist
I gotta update my scorecard.

Hey Katherine, I'm not trying to cost Hobbs his job. First of all, Republicans don't care what I say. Second, I hope Hobbs stays. He's good copy.

Pith didn't cost Hobbs the Belmont job, he did that himself. And if he loses the GOP job, that will again be his own doing. He's lucky he's lasted this long.
