If you want to look at the bright side, one could say we Tennesseans are adept multi-taskers.
You could say that the 42 percent of us who admit to texting while driving, according to a
Vlingo survey, think time is too valuable to be spent merely watching the road. We could be communicating: "What r u up 2?" "Idk. Chillin. :P"
In fact, our need to send and receive these weighty transmissions is so irrepressible that it has landed us the ignominious spot as top texting state in the union. Somehow, some way, the Volunteer State "drexts" (I want a dollar every time someone says that) more than hordes of sun-kissed Valley Girls giggling into their iPhones.
This, of course, will be illegal come July, when Gov. Bredesen signs a bill to ban DWT (another acronym to add to your criminal justice lexicon) into law. Note: In the interest of full disclosure, Vlingo has an interest in seeing this come to pass.
Vlingo sells an application that allows you to text with your voice.
