The symbolism is slippery, the bodies lightly clad, but the message is clear: Some Tennessee students are willing to engage in kiddie watersport to fend off a de-fanged climate bill.

Members of the Tennessee Alumni and Students for Sustainable Campuses gathered outside of Rep. Bart Gordon's Murfreesboro office today--Slip 'N' Slide in hand--to urge the congressman to use his position as a senior member of the Committee on Energy and Commerce to support a strong American Clean Energy and Security Act.

Things they are for: 100 percent auction of carbon emission permits. This controversial provision of President Obama's cap and trade proposal would rake an estimated $646 billion in revenue in the program's first several years. Oh, and fun in the sun.

Things they are against: The inclusion of coal and nuclear power in the renewable energy standard.
