We are delighted to hear that the former Scene editor Liz Garrigan will return to print with a new biweekly column at The City Paper. After reporting stints at The Tennessean, the Nashville Business Journal, and the Tennessee Journal, Liz spent a dozen years at the Scene starting in 1996, the last four as editor. She then sold out to go work for the man, said man being Magellan Press, publishers of Where the Locals Eat.

Although she'll be columnizing for a tabloid published by some tall guy who used to work here, it'll be great to have her sharp journalism chops and piquant pen back in public view (even if she is going to be writing about scrapbooking). Welcome back LG!

Agreed. Liz is a terrific writer, reporter and columnist and knows the city as well as anyone.
Nice coup for Chris Ferrell as well.

A few things not to expect in Liz's column:
Use of the word "however."
Semicolons.
Use of the word "like" as a preposition meaning "such as," even though it's an accepted usage in Merriam Webster.
Split infinitives.
Up-to-the-minute analysis of Beyoncé's career.

Chrsitine Kreyling. Walter Jowers. Liz Garrigan. Way to go City Paper. I like it, I love it, I want some more of it.

According to reports, her column will be called "Broad Logic." Interesting choice from
someone who bristles at the hint of sexism.Perhaps two children have broadened her perspective. :-) xox to Liz / HW.

Speaking from the perspective of a mother of two, having children will broaden a few things, including your perspective. I don't mind being called a broad if it's preceded by 'hot' and not 'old.'

Liz has the rare gift of tearing down local leaders--while still getting them to call her back. It's great to see her back in the fold.

Will her first column be "Why I Hate Al Gore"?
I think a better name for the column would be "Keeping Abreast".

Garrigan, Williams Williams, Kreyling - I guess these writers are just a way to blend the funny pages with the editorial pages.
Now there are three reasons to ignore the City Paper.
Now that Liz works for the "man" will she refer to herself as a "biz pig"?
