Morning Roundup: Messing with Planned Parenthood and Other Fun Legislative Games

Not only can our licensed gunmen go into saloons and city playgrounds under NRA legislation but so can gunmen from 19 other states. Wonder if they're also highly trained and responsible law-abiding citizens? ...

A compromise is proposed, but Ramsey says there's no deal yet on judicial selection. ... The State Funding Board sets revenue projections today. ... Mark Maddox breaks ranks with Democrats to advance the charter schools bill. ... Another Stacey Campfield bill dies, this one to limit the state to two airplanes. ... A House subcommittee votes to abolish the Ethics Commission. ... Tennessee would have six recognized American Indian tribes if legislation approved by a House subcommittee becomes law. ... New radio ad slams Tanner on spending. ... Jennifer Wallace is named director of operations for the state Democratic Party. ... Christian conservatives are realizing their dream of denying federal funds to Planned Parenthood. Their bill is moving through both houses of the legislature. Rep. Joey Hensley:
"This $1.1 million, there's a lot of concern around the state that it goes to Planned Parenthood that provides most the abortions in the state. It just feels like federal tax dollars, our tax dollars, should not go to an entity that provided abortions."

Planned Parenthood offers other health services to women in Tennessee - and mostly poor women - including health screenings, family planning, birth control in addition to abortion.

There are only three clinics in the state anyway, Nashville, Knoxville and Memphis. From the webite (research is fun!) here are the services available at the Nashville location:
Abortion Services
Birth Control Services
Emergency Contraception
General Health Care
HIV Testing
HPV & Hepatitis Vaccines
LGBT Services
Men's Health Services
Patient Education
Pregnancy Testing, Options & Services
STD Testing & Treatment
Women's Health Services
I have personally utilized at least one of these services during a hilarious period of not being insured. And it wasn't abortion.
And $1.1 million is basically nothing, let's be honest. Tell you what, if I win the Powerball I don't play, I'll fucking donate it.

Clearly none of those services should be available to anyone. What's wrong with you people?

Like Ashley I have visited Planned Parenthood in the past. Long, long ago when I was a college student without benefits but also without the desire to become pregnant I went there. I can honestly say that they were far more interested in helping people prevent unwanted pregnancy than they were in getting involved in dealing with the aftermath.
But I strongly suspect this measure has much less to do with the services provided than it does with making sure sluts women like me know the price of their "immoral" lifestyle.

Sorry... the "sluts" part was supposed to be a strikethrough but obviously HTML is not my friend.

Everyone in the state would be safer if the legislators would just go home and farm, sell insurance, lawyer, whatever they do.

Planned Parenthood is covering up for rapists all over the country, and now this video shows they're doing it in Tennessee! www.liveaction.org/memphis
Damned if they get one cent of my money.
