Merle Goes Global

Posted By on Thu, May 7, 2009 at 2:55 PM

Nashville's Merle Hazard, who croons philosophic about love, tragedy, and high finance, has found his way into the lede of this week's editorial in The Economist.

There are two possible ways to read this development. One is that Merle is touching the hearts and wallets of millions across the globe with his singular blend of pathos and derivatives. The other is that the world of financial economics has gone all out batshit crazy.

More Merle here and here. If Merle is, as The Economist puts it, "an unusually satirical country and western crooner," one wonders what a typically satirical one looks like.
