One of the pleasures of Internet news sources is the magical synchronicity that occasionally transpires between rotating ad banners and news stories, such as the priceless moment from
The Tennessean shown above, herewith recorded for posterity.
Apparently, the
14th Annual Middle Tennessee Bible Reading Marathon, which got under way Sunday afternoon at Cannonsburgh Pioneer Village in Murfreesboro, is a pretty big deal. After all, as Rev. Ken Sharp, vice president of Bible Pathway Ministries, describes it, "This is not just a Murfreesboro or even a Middle Tennessee event.... We have people coming from as far as Chattanooga and many from Davidson County." Chattanooga, people.
By no means do we mean to mock the concept of a Bible reading marathon, though I do confess a certain predilection for the Old Testament, if you catch my drift. In fact, such determination is a testament
(oy!) to the readers' faith. But hey, even 90 straight hours of
Simpsons reruns would have you reaching for the No-Doz, right?
The marathon goes through Thursday at noon, and they're still looking for readers. Christian insomniacs are encouraged to call 615-893-9747.
