WorldNetDaily, the site devoted to proving that Barack Obama is actually a foreigner, believes it has uncovered more evidence of the plot to conceal his illegitimate presidency.

For the first three months of this year, Obama's campaign committee has spent nearly $700,000 with the Washington law firm of Perkins Coie, the guys defending him against suits alleging he was born outside the U.S., and thus unfit to be ruler of the free world. They also say said firm is doing its best to intimidate people who filed suits on the matter.

It's a theory that tends to get fine play in the righter regions of the body politic, and has no shortage of support from the noted scholars of the Tennessee legislature. But there also may be a more logical reason for Obama's monster lawyer bills.

For one, there's a tendency to run up big legal bills when every kook in America is suing you. And the threats Perkins Coie is sending out don't constitute standard intimidation. It's merely providing initial warning that, when all's said and done, it intends to "pursue sanctions, including costs, expenses and attorneys' fees," for "frivolous" litigation.
