"I'm proud to be a part of a Tennessee family business that employs almost 14,000 Americans in 40 states - over 1,800 of them in Tennessee. When you have that many employees, there are bound to be occasional issues. The company's commitment always has been to deal with those issues quickly and in the best interests of its customers. I'm sure that's what is happening this time."Democratic Party chair Chip Forrester, finally figuring out this press release thing, is denouncing "profiteering oil companies like Haslam's Pilot Corp." and praising AG Bob Cooper for striking back "against corporate greed." Pith loves it.
"In 2010, we will need a Governor who will look out for the Tennesseans who are struggling to keep their jobs and provide for their families," Forrester said. "I just hope that Bill Haslam doesn't treat the voters of Tennessee like his family's company treated drivers in Powell."For good measure, Forrester points to a previous press release in which the party called on Ramsey to return Pilot Oil campaign cash. It's a two-fer! Here's today's press release on Haslam: TNDP praises Attorney General for protecting consumers from profiteering oil companies like Haslam's Pilot Corp. Today, Tennessee Attorney General Bob Cooper helped consumers strike back against corporate greed. The Attorney General won a settlement against dozens of gas stations who inflated their prices in the wake of Hurricane Ike. According to the Attorney General's press release (PDF), the settlement includes $73,447 in potential restitution for consumers who were ripped off at the pump. The Tennessee Democratic Party has helped bring attention to the price gouging by Pilot Corp. and other gas stations in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike in September 2008. Pilot Corp. was caught marking up prices at three gas stations in Knoxville and one in Powell. TNDP Chairman Chip Forrester praised the settlement. "In the wake of a natural disaster, oil companies made a huge profit at the expense of drivers all over the country. I'm happy that Tennesseans are finally getting their money back," Forrester said. Bill Haslam is the former vice-president of Pilot Corporation, a petroleum corporation founded by his father Jim Haslam and headquarted in Knoxville. Haslam is currently the mayor of Knoxville and also a Republican candidate for Governor. "In 2010, we will need a Governor who will look out for the Tennesseans who are struggling to keep their jobs and provide for their families," Forrester said. "I just hope that Bill Haslam doesn't treat the voters of Tennessee like his family's company treated drivers in Powell."

I'm fine, Woodsie. Just giving credit where credit is due. Chip hit an issue in a timely manner. Good for him.
That's one.
Too bad he hired a Republican as treasurer. With all of the GOP numbskullery around lately, a pretty penny could have been raised with some well-timed appeals.
That a way Chip!!
DG..........is "hired" the right word? Isn't it a volunteer position? Also, was he Rep? Or did he just have it out for Bredesen? Big difference there.
That's a good point, DG. Has anyone seen any party fund-raising emails or letters? Guns, abortion, Obama birthers, Hispaniels and the yellow man, not to mention Shipley's calling on a wrathful God to toss us into the ocean--that's all pretty decent fund-raising ammo.
seen any party fund-raising emails or letters?
No, I haven't. I even gave $100 during the blogathon or whatever- still haven't gotten a thank you email or letter.
JohnnyC,
The blogathon wasn't an official TNDP fundraiser, it was just the bloggers doing it on our own. Since it was through ActBlue, we couldn't see exactly who all gave. But on behalf of everyone who organized it, thank you very much.
His excuse is his employees? What a lame excuse!
This dude must be alittle greedy!
Okay, you all killed my joy at seeing the slightest flicker of life out of TNDP. You are correct, TNDP is a smoldering heap of rubble. Chip Forrester blows.
