Smackdown: John Rich Sues Former Nashville Star Contestant

Posted by Brantley Hargrove on Fri, Apr 10, 2009 at 12:09 PM

John Rich of Big & Rich filed a defamation suit Monday against former 4th-season "Nashville Star" contestant Jared Ashley for claiming that Rich hit him in the mouth in the country music singer's private club, The Spot, according to police affidavits and an AP report.

Ashley was sent packing from the since-canceled show in the 6th episode. Rich was one of the judges. Rich claims Ashley became belligerent and had to be removed from the club by security on Mar. 13.

Anyway, check out the weird on-stage confrontation between Ashley and Rich, followed by an embarrassing end for the country music star and a piss-poor rendition of David Allen Coe's "You Never Even Called Me By My Name" by Ashley. Rich points at each member of Ashley's band and points down, as if to say, "You'll never work in this town again," or something like that.

Chalk it up to short men, weird, inflated egos and too much money.

John Rich was OBVIOUSLY shit-faced drunk; he couldn't even get down off the stage until he put the 2 beers down he had in his hand AND 2 bouncers grabbed his arms so he wouldn't fall down! what a horse's ASS!
Yep---, he's got one of those "short-men" complexes and too much money and too much conceitedness!
John Rich thinks he IS Nashville now........
TOO many of the "new" country stars, like John Rich & Toby Dick, think their shit doesn't stink and their fans "owe THEM" ...!!!!

If you had read the article from the original poster, and read the afidavit from John Rich, you may want to check our Jared Ashley truth telling. There is blame on both sides, especially a young man that is trying to get fame.
