OK, that does it! God will definitely toss us into the ocean for this one. Pith
can see the locusts flying this way. Tennessee Attorney General Bob Cooper has opined that Rep. Tony Shipley's bill to trash the Fourth Amendment
in his own personal War On Terror is, well, a violation of the Fourth Amendment. Cooper says:
"The Fourth Amendment of the United States Constitution requires a showing of 'probable cause' for issuance of a search warrant. Because 'reasonable suspicion' is a less demanding requirement than 'probable cause,' legislation that allows the issuance of a search warrant on 'reasonable suspicion' would not satisfy either the federal constitution or Article I Section 7 of the Tennessee constitution, which affords the same protection as the Fourth Amendment."
But don't despair, Shipley has yet to disclose all the top-secret intelligence he says he holds on terrorist activity in Tennessee. That's his ace in the hole. Once our hero tells what he knows, we won't let a little thing like the Bill of Rights stand in his way.
