You've no doubt heard by now of the press conference spectacle that was the marijuana ring police suspect laundered its profits through a well-known Music Row salon called Eyecandy.

If you're a regular reader of PITW, you were apprised of this on Mar. 18 when we broke the story. And, due to our own natural inclinations here, we were far more interested in a swanky salon owned by a cute blonde who allegedly launders pot money. Much more so, anyway, than the green trophies in brick form law enforcement pats itself on the back with. Now the guns they recovered, on the other hand, are worrisome.

The DA from Sumner County was quoted high up in the April 1 Tennessean story, blustering, "A scourge has been taken off the streets with this operation."

This all makes for good headlines: See, the cops are doing their jobs. We saved smokers beyond counting from a fate of the munchies, greater enjoyment of music and relaxation. Our city is safe, despite the black market forces pushing this stuff into the shady underworld.

The Drug Task Force is still investigating salon owner Cassie King's involvement in the ring, and due to a dearth in evidence, or something, charges against her haven't been brought. You may be waiting for a point to this blog post, dear reader, but I'm here to tell you there isn't one. I just find the spectacle and posturing obnoxious, and I'm mourning what apparently may have been a one-stop shop for both fashion and fun. Alas!
