Hum...it would appear the "no guns in bars" law didn't do much to keep this from happening.
I wonder how many law abiding permit holders left their guns in their cars thanks to idiotic legislation endorsed by The Nashville Scene?
That would be interesting to know...but thank guys for making Nashville just a little bit less safe. CHEERS!!
I think the purpose of the legislation is to prevent alcohol-fueled arguments in bars from turning into instant gunfights. From early indications, this guy had been stalking the couple with bad intentions. So while the law didn't prevent this particular tragedy, it may indeed prevent others. And we don't know that this tragedy could have been prevented if others in the bar were armed. From early indications, this was a disturbed individual on a mission. But again, we don't have all the facts yet.
Now, I have posted a polite response. The challenge now for you, Kev, is to see if you can respond without using your usual arsenal of insults like "bootlicker" "elitist cheerleader for fascism" "sniveling yes men (ie you)" "politically cluess hack devoid of some of the most basic facts" "bootlicking fascist" etc.
I like karaoke. This is sad. Kevin is a dipshit. That is all.
Kevin, it wasn't a quickdraw contest. Are you saying that if other patrons with legal carry permits had been there with weapons this wouldn't have happened? That they would have killed the man in a righteous shootout, thus saving Kevins life and not hitting nay innocents? How do you know the killer didn't have a permit? If he did, it isd further proof that alcohol affects the judgment of even legal gun owners.
First off I was there this man(if you can call him that) was not a patron of the bar he walked in with the soul intent to kill the victim
"Kevin, it wasn't a quickdraw contest. Are you saying that if other patrons with legal carry permits had been there with weapons this wouldn't have happened?"
-No, there is no way to know for sure but it sure as hell would have changed the odds..and may have kept the murderer from doing what he did in the first place. Either way, the laws you people espouse leave people defenseless and the info is starting to show that crime goes up in places where gun are banned. This is fact.
"I think the purpose of the legislation is to prevent alcohol-fueled arguments in bars from turning into instant gunfights. "
- Has that been a problem in the 30+ other states? Nope, it hasn't. The facts point towards the OPPOSITE of what you assert. And it's illegal to drink and carry so...The current laws didn't stop this from happening so it's now pretty apparent that all your "progressive" laws actually accomplish jack sh6t...
If there had been a group of quickdraw legal guns there, probably more injuries or deaths would have occured and cost the citizens even more legal fees. Either let's continue to pay for law enforcement and use it or just become a nation of Wyatt Earps or Billy The Kid, which ever is your fancy. I, for one, intend to wear a white hat.
From Ben's wife, the man came up to ben, put the gun to his head and shot him 4 times, boom... boom ...boom ...boom.
Regardless if there is a gun law or not, it was God's will that Ben be with him. Ben had no chance per Nikki. By the time she got to him, he was dead.
Ben was a good man. I knew him 10yrs. He adored his wife. They hadn't been married long. He would talk about her and would just sparkle. He was so very proud of her.
This is just so sad.
The law banning guns in bars simply kept this to unfortunate event to single murder......not a massacre...
if everyone in that bar had a gun how would it of stopped the bullet? there would of been 20 people shooting at once you idiot rednecks.
Whoa! I know the shooter, he was a relay technician with Progress Energy in Florida.
He didn't follow instructions and liked to do things on his own...never expected to be so cracked up.
Sad
I knew Ben for several years, and just recently, in March, met Nikki... He was a wonderful man, and I ran into them in March, where he announced so joyfully that in the time we lost touch he had gotten married, and introduced me to Nikki.
We all sang that night, at a couple different karaoke bars- and it was so wonderful to see Ben so happy. He glowed.
I am so upset that he lost his life through such an act of violence. I can only pray that he didn't suffer at all. My prayers and heart go out to Nikki and the rest of his family and friends.
There is a benefit for Ben being planned at Limelight, this weekend - April 18th. For more information, see here: http://profile.myspace.com/Modules/Applications/Pages/Canvas.aspx?appId=119211&appParams={%27rt%27:%27/Media/MySpaceMessage/006ad850-a839-44b9-80c9-07a840daa3da%27}&g=1
Maybe, possibly, coulda, should, woulda, if Ben had a gun he would have had a chance. He was shot at poiint blank range ahand sweep and draw could have saved the cost of a trial and the cost of incarceration. The facts are that more guns means less crime and that's using the Federal government's figure. Why are NYC, LA, Detroit and Chicago the gun death leads in this country. When the UK went to a gun ban the Bobbys had to strap on sidearms because he gun deaths went up along with the house break ins. Now they are trying to take away knieves large than a steak knief unless it it used for cooking.
You've be watching to many cowboy movies about drunken shoot outs. Most if not all drunken shooting are one guy has the gun and the other guy gets to be the catcher.
The reason there wasn't any more casualities was because Hank Wise had done what he came to do. If he had wanted to he could have used the extra rounds for several other people.
