Earthquake shakes East Tennessee. Rep. Tony Shipley is right! We've got to stop being so nice to gay people. ... University of Tennessee-Chattanooga students and faculty stage protest over budget cuts that aren't going to happen for at least two more years. ... Rep. Beth Harwell votes with Democrats to punish campaign operatives for running phony websites. "I don't think we should allow people to get on a Web site and not make clear that they're not who they say they are," she says. ... Reacting to the Kent Williams-Susan Lynn scandal, the House Ethics Committee is about to limit ethics complaints. ... Milk is the new state drink. ... Former Sen. Mike Williams lands a job thanks to federal stimulus money. ... Bill Gibbons announces campaign staff. ... The Commercial Appeal and the Jackson Sun are against the Saggy Pants bill: "Plumbers beware."
Of all the useless, asinine bills that have come down the pike during this General Assembly - and there have been plenty - perhaps the most asinine is the bill which would make it a crime to wear sagging pants. This bill serves no purpose and should be defeated.

I've been saying for a long time that sagging pants is the new front in the culture wars. We absolutely also need to have our police officers catching these young punks and either having them pull their pants up or throw them in the slammer. Because who knows, some of these little sagging pants punks could be hardened criminals wanted in 39 states (or at least illegal aliens). I'm sure Serpas and Daron Hall love this bill.

Wasn't the sagging pants zeitgeist in like 1992?
