With the Volunteers losing a heartbreaker this afternoon and Chattanooga getting stomped yesterday, the Memphis Tigers are Tennessee's last hope for March Madness glory*.

*What's that you say? We still have East Tennessee? Well yeah, as of right now the Buccanneers are only down three at halftime to Pitt. But considering no No. 1 seed has ever lost in the first-round, it's pretty likely ETSU is just an hour away from elimination. (C'mon, reverse jinx!)

That leaves the Tigers. A year after coming within a made free throw of the national championship, both Bob Knight and the nerds from Basketball Prospectus have them winning it all. But it took a career day from a rarely used guard just to get by 15th-seeded Cal State Northridge. And their bracket, the West, is generally, though not unanimously, regarded as this year's best.

Of course, if you're the type of fan who considers proximity just as important as state boundaries there are other teams to root for. Western Kentucky (Bowling Green's an hour north on I-65) pulled the upset yesterday and the Morehead State (four hours if you're bookin' it) Louisville tip is only hours away.

Sadly missing from all the Madness: Vandy. (But they practically invented it!)
