Michael Steele: the GOP's George Costanza

  • The resemblance is uncanny.
Remember the Seinfeld episode where George tries to get canned from his job with the New York Yankees? The Mets are interested in making him their head scout, but can only hire him after he's been fired. So he decides to take matters into his own hands, smearing food on Babe Ruth's jersey, streaking the field while wearing a bodysuit and dragging the World Series trophy from the back of his car .

The catch was that by making a mockery of Yankees' tradition, George actually wins praise. And when it finally comes time for someone to get fired, its his boss who ends up with the Mets' job. Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele is exactly like George. Except he's not screwing up on purpose.

Critical error numero uno came last week when he bagged on Rush Limbaugh. Then yesterday, Steele told GQ Magazine he supports a woman's right to choose. These are the kinds of things you say if you're trying to piss off conservatives, not lead them. Next thing you know, Steele will be for higher capitol gains taxes and union labor. Or maybe he'll do something really stupid, like support a ban on guns in nurseries.

For his sake, let's just hope he's got some super-secret sideline deal with Rahm Emanuel and the Democrats. Otherwise he's just like that other bald dude with glasses, only less wily.

Michael Steele is the RNC's Chip Forrester . . . Or is Chipper TNDP's Michael Steele . . . Or is Chipper TNDP's Don Knotts . . .
I'm so confused.

Whether it's monorails or Costanza, I'm glad Pith understands that I'm only capable of processing politics if they're easily relatable to beloved TV programs in syndication. I'm working on a theory about how the current economy is like the time the Ingalls clan was flush with inheritance - only to find out it was Conferdate money!

Yer pays yer money, and yer gets what yer gets! Not being a GOPER, I'm still amazed he would apologize to the'Lovable big (oops) little fuzzball".Makes me wonder if he really is a Conservative(Whatever that is).Well,it made me happy that they could elect someone so "sheepish" as they think us DEMS are the ones with "foot-in-mouth disease. Keep it up,M.S.Looks like your former Brother-in-law is coming back in the
family (er) the limelight.Don't make him angry,or your might lose an ear!
