An American flag from Texas that flew over the rubble left by the Sept. 11 attacks has been traveling the world, honoring heroes and those killed in the line of duty.
Most recently the U.S. Honor Flag was in South Florida to commemorate the induction of a disabled Iraq war veteran into the Coral Gables Police Department. But today the flag was stowed on a flight bound for Nashville from Miami to honor Lt. David Charles Gann of the Sequatchie County Sheriff's Office, who was killed in a car crash, and 1st Lt. William Eric Emmert of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, who was killed in action as a Tennessee National Guardsman in Mosul, according to
a report from Miami's CBS4.
Before passengers boarded the flight, the pilot, who'd lost friends in the 9/11 attacks, came over the loudspeaker and apprised them of the significance of their cargo.
The flag will fly over the Tennessee State Capitol.
